Dr Pamela Gay is an astronomer, podcaster, and creative focused on using new media to engage people in science and technology. She is perhaps best known as the co-host of Astronomy Cast, an 11-year running podcast she produces along side Fraser Cain of Universe Today. Each week, she and Fraser take their listeners on a facts-based journey through the cosmos that explores not only what we know about the universe, but how we know it.



Professionally, Pamela is the Director of Technology and Citizen Science for the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. This position allows her to go beyond helping people learn astronomy to helping them do astronomy. She is the Principal Investigator of the CosmoQuest Citizen Science platform.

She can often be found traveling to random corners of the world giving talks on her work, and the amazing results of the volunteers who participate at CosmoQuest.

Outside of her (not-exactly) 9-5 day job, Pamela finds time to be engage creatively as a writer, narrator, and artist under the online-handle StarStryder on, where she spends many a Saturday afternoon painting planets and describing the science behind the worlds she creates.

She is also a writer, with articles appearing in Astronomy, Sky and Telescope, Lightspeed, and Mothership Zeta magazines. She has also had the chance to appear in TV Shows like The Universe and appeared beside Jim Cantore to host 2017 Solar Eclipse coverage on the Weather Channel.
